I always love to champion small businesses and so this month it’s all about Rey House

_________

Rey House was born out of a love of well made, well fitting clothes that feel good, look good and last. The kind of clothes you come back to time and time again because you know you never have to tug at a hemline or adjust a shoulder seam – and you’re guaranteed a compliment.

“When worrying about what to wear for various occasions, I realised that I always turned to the same, older items from my wardrobe. Items that I trusted, fitted me well and were made beautifully. The styles were mostly ageless in design and ageless in terms of who could wear them. It became apparent that friends and colleagues from the world of fashion felt exactly the same way. Talking more about what women of our generation wanted and needed from fashion and how if it couldn’t be found then perhaps we should make it happen ourselves. Rey-House was born right there.”

As you transition out of your 30s, one thing becomes abundantly clear – life is way too short to wear clothes that don’t fit properly.
That’s why we’ve torn up the so-called rule book and gone back to what’s important: quality fabrics, flattering designs, and timeless tailoring techniques.

DESIGNED FOR EVERY BODY

Forget apples and pears. Women are diamonds, cut to a shape that best reflects the many beautiful facets of who we are.

WHO SAYS WE HAVE TO GROW OLD GRACEFULLY?

Our collection is being created in consultation with real women. Women from their 40s to their 60s. Our friends and our family. Women just like you. Because it’s not enough to create clothes that look great – we want them to feel great too.

IT’S ALL IN THE FIT

We are all unique, in every aspect. When it comes to what we
We’ve all experienced it. The frustration of ‘our size’ being different in every shop. Seams in the wrong places. It shouldn’t have to be that way. That’s why we’re developing a unique sizing system that represents real women rather than dressmakers’ dummies.

DESIGNED TO LAST

Looking good isn’t enough. We want to feel good too. And that means using only the best materials available, from Italian yarns, luxury silks to organic cottons. The bonus is these materials last longer, giving you a more sustainable wardrobe that stands against fast fashion.

Sign up on our website https://rey-house.com/pages/community and join our community. Tell us what kind of Diamond you are and feedback on what frustrates you when buying clothes. Join our community and receive special discounts.

I always love to champion businesses that I love and I love fashion!

In the past within this wellness/ lifestyle section I have highlighted brands/people who I always go to for my fashion buys This month is no exception as I highlight the brand that is …. Cape Cove.

_________

Founded on a combined love of the water and a connected purpose for doing better, Cape Cove, a feel good brand offers relaxed, throw-on-style clothing that is focused on sustainable methods.

The brand’s purpose is underpinned by ethical practices and three commitments that aspire to drive real positive change; caring for the earth, supporting community and raising awareness of mental health.

Created by three fashion and beauty industry experts who began their buying careers in the noughties. Clare Surplice, Suzannah Hatch and Jo Bennett have a combined 30 years of experience; their lives and families intertwining as their careers progressed.

Through a shared joy of the water, love for art and an aspiration to make a true difference in the world; Cape Cove was born.

What makes Cape Cove unique is its use of print, colour and textiles.

All embroideries are hand drawn and prints sourced by Clare, who alongside her buying experience has a background in art and textiles, she finds her inspiration from the natural world and a connection to people.

Further designs, colour ways, prints, and waterproof fabrics will be added throughout the year in line with the customer demand, all part of the thoughtful and seasonless design ethos that Cape Cove embodies.

We adore Jos commitment to community and her passion for movement and great energy.  Having known Jo for more than a decade her passion& dedication for balance in life is amazing – particularly her love of water & wine 😂

Cape Cove is available direct to consumers via www.cape-cove.com and John Lewis.

Every now and then I aim to showcase a business I really love and believe in – it’s great to champion the smaller business.

So I wanted to introduce a fabulous lady called Annie Reed and her retail business – Sansom Reed

Over to Annie…

xx

Hello, and a really warm welcome from me, Annie, founder of Sansom Reed, where we hope to totally inspire you to live your happiest and most effortless style.

We seek comfort in all we sell, be it for temperature, fabric feel, or moveability. Our aim is for you to smile inside, and out, when you wear pieces you buy from us.

We are really proud to have been invited to be a named brand by Jo, which has come about from a very lucky happenchance when Annie spotted Jo on instagram, messaged her, and 30 years after leaving the same school, we re-connected.

As well as getting along on bus journeys back in the 80s, and a shared humour for all that passed in their teen school days, Jo has many of the values I hold dear to the approach of life and healthy regimes.

Jo has been a supporter and wearer of Sansom Reed and we love how she gets the essence of what we offer: the enhanced feeling of inner happiness when discovering what you feel best in.

LOOK OUT FOR SPECIAL JO AND ANNIE OFFERS WHICH SANSOM REED WILL FEATURE FROM TIME TO TIME.

Sansom Reed is a multi brand boutique, we source from all over the world for wardrobe, homewares and lifestyle. Our Danish brands are amongst our most popular, as they give new looks, with classic cuts and flatter the silhouette.

We love to help you add texture … this season faux fur is big! Colour is back, and while we stock a wide selection of delicious neutrals, we will always have colour in our collection.

Our selections are constantly evolving, many lines are limited edition, and every day there is something new online. We show in detail through our “Lives”on instagram, for you to assess clearly. We are here to help with sizing, styling and increasing ideas of ways to wear. We try to have a customer service that is as in real life as possible.

We are looking forward to assisting you.

We wish every success and happy times to all undertaking programmes with Jo.

Every now and then I aim to showcase a business I really love and believe in – it’s great to champion the smaller business.

So I wanted to introduce a fabulous lady called Nikki Holt and her candle business – Nostara.

These candles are my “go to,” as not only do they all smell divine but they burn really well!  Nikki actually showed me how to burn a candle to make it effective and last!

Over to Nikki …

xx

Introducing Nostara

I first met Jo at Axe Vale Craft Fair in 2018, since then she has been an avid supporter of Nostara.

She has asked me to write a few words to tell you all about my journey from stay at home mum to founder of Nostara…

After many happy years as a primary school teacher and a stay-at-home mum, it was time to start a new chapter in my life. My love of fragrance drew me to creating my own range of luxury home fragrances and with the support of my family and friends and in 2017 the Nostara brand was born.

Finding the perfect name for my business was very tricky – I had lots of great, and not so great ideas, but I finally settled on ‘Nostara’!

It is derived from a combination of my first initial and ‘Ostara’ the Goddess of Spring, chosen for its meaning of new beginnings – the perfect metaphor for my new business.

Why did you start the business?

My aim was to bring a sense of luxury to the everyday and launch a collection that was aspirational but accessible – something that I would want to buy for my own home.

Focusing on ethical, sustainable, and local production was really important to me. I wanted to keep everything sourced in the UK and I am pleased to say I was able to achieve this.

I was thrilled to be awarded a Great British Brand in 2020 and 2021 – something I can truly say I am proud of.

About Nostara’s candles & diffusers

Nostara’s candles are hand poured in small batches in the South West – one of my fabulous suppliers and an expert in pouring candles!

I use 100% natural sustainable soy wax and scents which have been created using premium quality essential oils with distinguishable top, heart, and base notes. The candles feature 100% cotton wicks and will burn for approximately 40 hours with an exceptional scent throw, providing a clean, even, long lasting burn to your home, office, or wedding.

Nostara reed diffusers, also hand poured in Devon, are made from Augeo, which is an innovative and eco-friendly new base, derived from soya renewable resources. It is non-toxic, low in carbon footprint and low in odour, giving it a superior performance.

The reed diffusers are the perfect way to effortlessly add long-lasting fragrance, whether you want a signature scent or to create a particular ambience.

My collection is available in eight fragrances, all personal to me: Bergamot & Black Tea, Lime & Juniper, Linen & White Gardenia, Ebony Rose, Burnished Amber, and two winter editions – Frosted Fir and Winter Wonderland, both encapsulating the magic of Christmas!

My collection even encompasses a ‘MANdle’ with the Leather & Vetiver fragrance offering a confident, masculine redolence – a darker addition to Nostara’s range. This aroma will bring a sense of drama to any space, with its deep, musky undertones and powerful presence.

About Nikki Holt

I teamed up with the award-winning perfumer, Marina Barcenilla (also local to me), to develop my perfumery skills and create a range with an emphasis on complex fragrance notes, giving a multi-dimensional olfactory experience.

I love travelling and discovering new scents along the way. When I return home, I try to recreate those fabulous scents and bring a bit of that special place back to life in Nostara’s fragrances. Whether you are tempted by the zesty homage to a G&T in the sun – Lime & Juniper, or the uplifting, spa like fragrance Bergamot & Black Tea (inspired by a hotel in Hong Kong) there is something for everyone.

I am such a lover of fragrance, it has the power to evoke such wonderful memories. Creating new scents and products is one of my favourite parts of running the business. I’m so pleased to have created something unique to Nostara, and that everyone can enjoy for many years to come. I hope you enjoy them too!

Love Nikki x

Every now and then I aim to showcase a business I really love and believe in – it’s great to champion the smaller business.

Many workout family members have asked about the various outfits that I wear that they’ve spotted on Instagram and so I thought I would showcase a fabulous lady called Natasha and her business, Nulu. Keep reading for a 15% discount off Nulu products 👍

I’m Natasha Roberts and I run Nulu here in the UK and am delighted to be featured in one of Jo’s business spotlights.

Nulu is a South African brand of activewear and our pieces are bright and colourful, or have amazing prints and are really different from other activewear you can buy on the high street.

Often people ask if I’m South African, but I’m not … I’m very English, but I have family in Cape Town and did work there in my younger days! So I have close connections and visited frequently (pre Covid!), and Lucinda who founded Nulu, is one of those friends for many years.

Lucinda launched Nulu in 2009 when she spotted the trend in activewear whilst working in the clothing industry in South Africa. Originally Nulu was a purely yoga brand, but has developed to encompass activewear for not only yogis, but also those being active through pilates, gym classes, running.

As a niche brand, we hope that our customers will love wearing Nulu leggings, tops, etc that not everyone else is wearing, and will compliment other items in their activewear wardrobe! The brand is supposed to be fun and playful, making you feel good about what you wear.

For me, when it’s a rainy, dreary day in the UK I love seeing the latest designs and prints that Lucinda has chosen for a product range…..a bit of bright sunshine and colour from Cape Town.

I’ve really missed being able to meet customers over the last year as I used to sell Nulu at gyms, studios, house sales and fairs but am looking forward to getting out there again. Although you can buy online via our website or Instagram. I’m always happy for people to visit me at home to try items – just message me if you are in the South East!

So if you fancy a new pair of yoga leggings or a vest for a Pilates workout, please take a look at Nulu and I hope there might be something to tempt you. Our green palms leggings look fabulous on Jo, it could be you too!

Every now and then I aim to showcase a business I really love and believe in – it’s great to champion the smaller business.

Many workout family members have asked about the various outfits that I wear that they’ve spotted on Instagram and so I thought I would launch this showcase section by introducing a fabulous lady called Lindy and her business.

Over the years I have bought many things from Lindy… most of my jewellery in fact and my various “floaty” dresses.

I shall leave the rest to Lindy…

____________

Hi, I am Lindy Harpham, owner of online retail store, Story in Bray in Berkshire, UK.

Jo has been a friend, ambassador and super-loyal customer of mine for years … everything looks fabulous on her so I was so thrilled when she was willing to include Story in Bray here in her lifestyle section.

I had an actual bricks and mortar shop in Bray Village for around 13 years where I sold gorgeous clothing, jewellery and interior pieces.  On this journey, I was lucky enough to meet loads of fantastic people and acquired a very loyal following who have remained with me to this day.

As the interior service side of the business grew, I decided to close my beloved shop in Bray and run the creative side of my business from my ‘den’ at home.

I have a huge love of clothing, jewellery and interiors and so continue to combine all three into a great little business.

One of our selling points is that we don’t stock a lot of anything and we tend to avoid big labels and instead, work hard to source unusual stock for our customers – generally timeless pieces that work together season after season.  We also stock super gifts too!

Have a peek at storyinbray.com

We generally use Instagram to announce new clothing. Do follow us if you like what you see!

Finally – you can see Jo in some of our clothing in the photos below …
